KK Travel Diary: San Miguel

As Fall travel begins (Paris this week!), I’ve been scrolling through some of my last trips. One of the most enchanting of late was a trip with 10152 Torino friends to San Miguel. The beautiful colors, architecture, and way of life leaves a lasting impression. San Miguel is known for its Baroque colonial structures which have attracted artists and writers for decades. The art, music, and food inspired me in ways I couldn’t have imagined. It’s an enchanting, Europe-meets Mexico, experience and it certainly won’t be my last trip. Au Revoir!
San Miguel - trip
Parroquia de San Miguel Arcangel was built in the 19th century. It is known for its neo-gothic architecture and pink/orange color.
Black and white tile striped bathroom.
Subdued blues and oranges were found everywhere.
Cocktail break on the patio!
The use of metals and texture inspired the design in my current renovation.
Dos Buhos is an organic winery just outside of the city. It is known for its art, architecture, chapel, and tasting room all done by local artists.
San Miguel Top 5 Must Do’s:
  • Fábrica La Aurora – was originally a textile factory but has now been transformed into art studios, galleries, restaurants, and shops. If you go on the first Friday of the month, you can enjoy some wine and cheese with the artists while you find amazing pieces.
  • San Augustin Chocolates & Churros – this place will satisfy any sweet tooth. It has everything from delicious chocolates to piping hot churros. You can’t go wrong here!
  • Luna Rooftop Tapas Bar – grab a cocktail and watch the colorful San Miguel sunset at this rooftop bar. It’s the perfect place to stop before a night on the town.
  • Mixta San Miguel – this place truly lives up to the name Mixta (mix in English). It has everything from bright colored furniture to hand-embroidered dresses.
Vía Orgánica –
a cafe, non-profit organic farm, and education center. Grab a fresh-squeezed juice and jumpstart your day.
